Frugal vs. Cheap

Posted in All things Frugal, Tupperware at 6:48 pm by Administrator

Which are you, if either? I got a hold of an interesting book that briefly explores this topic, and it really seemed almost comical to me. First you’d really have to know the difference between the two.

I headed on over to dictionary.com and this is what I found:

Frugal - economical in use or expenditure… not wasteful

Cheap - costing very little… inexpensive

So now that we know what the definitions of the two are, needless to say I hope that you aren’t “low costing”, but I think we’d all wish that in many ways we were more economical. Especially during these times. Many people are getting really excited that gas prices have started going down, but how many people have seen that reduction reflected in the costs of everyday goods such as food and other household expenditures.

I’ve long preached about one of the products I sell for this very reason. Many people purchase sandwich bags, freezer bags, snack bags, wax paper, and those cheap little plastic containers from the store to store their leftovers or next day’s lunch in. When that bag is used, it is thrown away. When that flimsy plastic container breaks, it is thrown away, when the lid is lost, it is no good for transporting your lunch in anymore!

So what makes Tupperware so different?

How about that many of their products have a Lifetime replacement guarantee. Yep, is your bowl cracked? Broken? Find your nearest Tupperware consultant and get it replaced for FREE! Many times you don’t even have to pay the shipping because a good consultant wants you to come back to him or her to check out the newest products. Did you lose your lid? No problem. Tupperware will sell replacement lids and parts for their products! No need to buy the whole thing all over again.

Essentially you are doing two things: 1. You are being Frugal. 2. You are doing your part to NOT fill up the landfills because you aren’t throwing your products away. As a matter of fact, here is a sample of what you can save:

Well Darn.. I tried to post it, but I couldn’t, so here is the link!

Not everyone of these savings will apply to you, but I bet many of them will!

When unorganization hits us…

Posted in Work-At-Home at 7:08 am by Administrator

The biggest thing you can do to help get out of this messy situation is:

REALIZE YOU ARE IN IT!

Isn’t that the start of a twelve step program? Admit that you have a problem?

Life sometimes can catch us by surprise and we can get behind. Take my situation for instance:

I gave birth, I had two hurricanes hit me back to back, and I found a new interest along the way. Did I mention the normalcy of life to add to the other. It’s easy to get sidetracked, and easy to get behind. Let’s face it, to add to all that sometimes you just need some time off! That is what makes life so wonderful! You can do that! I learned all about sitting back and taking it easy when I was stationed over seas while in the Navy. Spain was the best country to learn it in too.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Recognize you have a messy problem.
2. Write down the tasks that need to be done.
3. Schedule these tasks in time slots.
4. Stick to your schedule.

And now its time to follow my own advice and get to work!

My Gorgeous Reason for Being MIA

Posted in Randomness at 11:10 am by Administrator

Well, what can I say. I’ve been absent for some time now. In my spare time I’ve been working on updating my site and trying to get it ready to launch. But its taking time. And time is very valuable these days.

This is what has gotten me sidetracked:

Grace

She is our little bundle that arrived on 21 August. The real surprise was that she was a SHE. We were expecting a BOY. Ultrasound and Dr. confirmed..

So imagine our surprise when he said… Um… its a baby girl… I looked at him and said.. seriously??

At any rate, my being in love with the newest edition of my family has sidetracked my business, but that is what is so great about having your own. You can have these little moments in life when you want them and not have to answer to anyone else!

Things I didn’t know about Bounce Dryer Sheets!

Posted in All things Frugal at 9:11 am by Administrator

Hey everyone, I ran across this post at one of my favorite forum haunts called WorkPlaceLikeHome. I had to share!

Did you know that there are more things to do with Bounce dryer sheets than just put them in the dryer? Here is the list that was posted on the forum:

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don’t get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.”

Now this is a really cool list. But.. because I don’t believe EVERYTHING I read, and you shouldn’t either, this could be a GREAT experiment to do on your own!

Do you have tips you’d like to share?

Just let me know!

The Sample Bag ~ A Very Creative Tool

Posted in The Sample Bag at 9:02 am by Administrator

The Sample Bag ~ It’s All In The Bag…..

And they aren’t kidding. I ran across this company when checking out what other home business owners were up to. As a matter of fact, I found out about them through one of my yahoo groups. I HIGHLY recommend networking! You meet amazing people, get fresh perspectives on your business and life in general, and you may even make a few sales… but that is for another discussion.

Let’s answer some questions for you first.

1. What is the Sample Bag?

That is easy. Sample Bags are bags that are put together by the company that consist of samples sent in by small business owners and direct sellers.

2. Why is it so great?

If you are the person with samples in the bags, that means when your bags are sold, you get LEADS and potential customers. Plus the bags are sold nationwide, so you definitely will step out of your local region.

3. What else do you get?

Well.. if you purchase a bag, you get the goodies of course, if you are the seller you get a commission from the sale, if you are the Rep in the bag, you get your advertisement!

If you really think about this, this is a GREAT concept! Rep’s from all over the country send in their samples to be included in these bags. TSB takes it one step further by ensuring that each bag contains all different companies. As a Rep that means you aren’t competing with another rep from the same company in that bag. Ex. You sell Tupperware. You are “In The Bag”, there isn’t another Tupperware rep in that bag!

There are specialty bags as well that target specific industries such as realty, men, and women. They also have a great promotional idea for sellers to use.. Selling bags that are sent overseas to the Troops. I am a HUGE Military Supporter! So yes, they ship to FPO addresses.

I recently was made the Louisiana State Manager of TSB.. a very big honor!

Are You In The Bag??

Are You Allergic To Change?

Posted in Peddler's Kitchen, Work-At-Home at 8:52 am by Administrator

I have some random thoughts about change that I wanted to air out. I really would love to see how others view change in their bussinesses as well. I work with a great company as a Gourmet Peddler (Peddler’s Kitchen). I mostly buy for myself, but offer products to others when they won’t leave my food alone! Ha Ha.

Recently PK has undergone some changes due to ownership transfer. The founding owner is terribly ill and needing to sell the company. A very sad thing to have to let your dream go due to an illness, but she did so, so that the company, its Rep’s, and its customers would not suffer.

What has really surprised me are the number of people who have left the company during this transition period. The company is still up and running, orders are being shipped, nothing really has changed other than we as Rep’s know that a sale is imminent. So, why are so many jumping ship before any change has taken place? Who says anthing will change other than where the food is shipped from? What if the changes made are good?

So here is my question for you! What changes in your business scare you so bad that you quit?

My honest opinion is the folks who jumped ship didn’t really have a love for the products or a passion for what is was they are doing.

Tupperware Buyer’s Club!

Posted in Tupperware at 7:46 pm by Administrator

Well, I thought this was a great opportunity for Tupperware lover’s so I HAD to mention it.

There are many people out there who love Tupperware, and there are really only 3 ways you can get a killer discount on the products you love!

1 - Host a party (online or offline)

2 - Shop and buy only the Sales Items

3 - Join the Buyer’s Club

Yep, how many of you have heard of the Buyer’s Club?? Essentially to get you started out you have two purchase options:

1 - For $79.99 you get $350 retail worth of Tupperware

2 - For $129.99 you get $550 retail worth of Tupperware

Sounds a lot like the consult kits doesn’t it? Well, you aren’t off the mark. It is the same exact kit the consultants get. What is the difference? Nothing really, in the Buyer’s Club you just don’t sell. You get all of your Tupperware at the consultant’s discount to keep you getting the goods at a great price. Catch? There isn’t one really. To stay in the buyer’s club you have to do the same thing the consultants do. Purchase $250 worth of Tupperware every 4 months. That is RETAIL. Not YOUR price. So your actual cost will be 25% less than this.

Even better than the great prices the Buyer’s club circle gets, you also get the same materials consultants get, so if you decide you’d like to sell, you just start selling. There are no fees to pay, kits to buy… you just sell. Or sell when you want.

So, what is the Buyer’s club? A great set of Tupperware to start out with really inexpensive and the rest of your Tupperware purchases at 25% off.

Why did I feature this? Simply because I love great deals and I love to share them!
